I am a Mexican-American children’s book illustrator based in California. I especially enjoy illustrating lyrical stories in English and Spanish for ages 4-8. My work carries a thread of compassionate curiosity, urging a deeper understanding for oneself and others. I am interested in stories that encourage a love of nature, cultural exploration, and acceptance of neurodiversity. I feel that children’s books should inspire a sense of curiosity, duty, and appreciation for wildlife and the outdoors. The unique seascapes and redwood forests of Central California have been formative to my practice. I am currently working on my own children’s book, Growing Thing, which combines themes of self-compassion and growth with a curiosity and appreciation for California wildlife. My illustrations have a classic look with a modern twist, as I use digital software to illustrate characters with somewhat realistic proportions and textured brush strokes that mimic traditional tools.

At the moment, I am most interested in nonfiction, own voices (cultural), and socio-emotional learning genres. I want to illustrate stories that encourage children to be endlessly curious; about their planet, about their heritage, and about themselves.
